Set up in 1990 by saxophonist Paul Jolly, who appeared as a member of the Krakow Jazz Ensemble in the Mike Figgis film Stormy Monday, 33" Records have,via the 33 Jazz and 33 WM labels,released over 180 albums of contemporary jazz and world music. Artists include Theo Travis,Don Weller,Martin Speake and Michael Hashim.We also recently released the late great US saxophonist Steve Lacey's last album recorded in London with the Hans Koller Big Band, and "Sintetico" by Renato D'Aiello.

Salford University's Music Division is one of the largest and most established within the UK HE sector and was rated as "excellent" by the latest QAA exercise. The division has several excellent ensembles, including the Brass Band, Big Band, Wind Band, Saxophone ensemble and the Adelphi Choir.
